The 2022 Korean Festival will return to Union Square on Sunday, October 23 at 11 AM to 5 PM. Please join us for a day of delicious Korean food and fun, free, cultural performances and activities, including K-Pop, Ssireum (Korean wrestling), Taekwondo, Seoye (Korean calligraphy), photo ops with Korean royal traditional costumes, giveaways, and more! Soo Min Kim, Miss Korea 2018 and journalist at BBC Reel, will emcee the event.
This year, the festival will showcase the Seoul-based Sejong Traditional Arts & Dance Company, an art troupe that strives to introduce Korean cultural dance, rhythmic instruments, and voice, based on the in-depth research, tradition, and creativity of Chae Hyang Soon (a professor at the Chung-Ang University, College of Arts), to audiences around the world. The group integrates core elements of traditional song, dance, and music into their dance performances with the intent of preserving and capturing Korea's national spirit. KAAGNY is pleased to welcome and introduce Sejong Traditional Arts & Dance Company to the NYC community later this month.
