West 28th Street, Suite 328, New York City is pleased to present a
two-person show Above all Differences: Eun-Soon Lim
and Ok-Ran Ki. The show will run from July 20th -26th,
2016 with an opening reception on Thursday, July 21st from 6
to 8 pm.
This two-person exhibition was organized to bring their
works of unique style further into focus, while both being representative works
of contemporary art. The meticulous details allow the viewers to emotionally
connect with the subject matter almost physically conveying them into their
work.
Eun Soon Lim is a painter who focuses on
the interpretation of traditionalKorean dances in her paintings, which also
allude to the close association between a woman’s life and the art of dance.
Dynamic motion is created by using various lines; edge lines, spirals, as well
as traversing lines with cotton that is so natural. She also represents freedom
and liberty of women with unique brushstrokes much like sweeping snow with a
boom that convey tough motion and powerful rhythm. Lim currently lives in
Gwangju, Korea, where she received her PhD, MFA at the Chosun University, but
Lim has been shown her works through many galleries in United States and
Korea.
Ok Ran Ki focuses on the experimental
transformation of shapes and surfaces that make up the urban city, from which
the artist is inspired to reach a new abstract representation of its
compositional elements, with her refined balance between organic forms and the
geometry of nature. The simplicity of her approach with her intuitive
mannergives rise toa certain severity in her paintings. She received her PhD at
Chosun University, and MFA, BFA at Cheonnam National University. She lives in
Korea but working as a global artist.
