an International Live Networked Performance Event with a special performance by Saul Melman at 4 pm.

Saul Melman's GATHERINGS (Performed at 4:00 PM EST) is a performance that explores the substance of time and how it reveals itself within our frame of perception. Through a sequence of repeated actions that expand inside the chronological container of five minutes, GATHERINGS reshapes measured time by the force of intervention. Saul Melman is an artist who lives and works in New York City. He has shown his sculpture, performance and installation at Cabinet Magazine, Whitney Museum of American Art and MoMAPS1. Saul received an Emerging Artist Fellowship from Socrates Sculpture Park and will exhibit a new installation at the park in 2011-2012. He received an MFA in sculpture from Bard College in 2009.

Now entering its third year, Low Lives is an international exhibition of live performance-based works transmitted via the internet and projected in real time at multiple venues throughout the U.S. and around the world. Produced and curated by Jorge Rojas, Low Lives examines works that critically investigate, challenge, and extend the potential of performance practice presented live through online broadcasting networks. This year Low Lives promises to be the farthest reaching to date with over 25 presenting partners in the United States, Mexico, Spain, Trinidad & Tobago, Germany, India, Tanzania, and Japan.

QMAD, Queens Media Arts Development was co-founded and is under the direction of media artist, Hector Canonge.
