The Korean
Traditional Music Association of America(KTMAA) with President Kap Son Um(Yi) is
presenting the second “Myong In Yuol Jeon” in Symphony Space, New York, on
November 29th, Sunday at 7 o’clock in the evening. A National Human Cultural
Asset of Korea and many talented and remarkable musicians and vocalists have
traveled all the way from Korea to perform on stage. Some of the artists are
Youngjae Kim, a haegum player,
Janghyun Won on piri, HyungHwan Lee
on gomungo, and Hanyeoreum Sung on a-jeng. And the vocalists are Jungha Han,
Youngsoon Kim and Youngok Kim. In addition, artists from KTMAA, Okju Moon,
Myeongsoon Choi, Youngok Hong, Soonhee Kim, Kap Son Um, Sunyoung Park, Eunjoo
Kang, Youngju Jang, Chunseung Lee and New York Korean Traditional Marching
Band(NYKTMB) and Samulnori will be on stage.
The myong-in or masters will be ensembling sinawi and daegum myong-in Janghyun Won and a-jeng player Hanyeoreum Sung will be collaborating together to
play sanjo. The National Human
Cultural Asset, Youngjae Kim and Professor of Chung-Ang University, Hyunhwang
Lee will show Shin-Kwae-Dong-Ryu(style) of sanjo
duet. The Holder of Intangible Cultural Assets Number 44: Samgakyukgak, master Kyungman Choi will be playing hojukpoongryu and Jungha Han, the winner
of President’s Award and Chairman of Bosung Pansori, will sing Namdo minyo(folk song) with Youngsoon Kim, and
Youngok Kim filling the stage with their beautiful voices. The artists of
KTMAA; Myeongsoon Choi, Youngok Hong, Soonhee Kim, Kapson Yim, Sunyoung Park,
Eunjoo Kang, Youngjoo Jang; will dance improvised choreography of sinawi and Jindobukchum and myong-in
Okju Moonand 12 disciples will sing pansori in harmony. Gayagumsanjo in
Sung-Gum-Hyun-Ryu(style) will be performed in trio by Hyeyoung Mo, Songeun Shin
and Sunabi Lee and Chunseung Lee and NYKTMB will be playing the boisterous samulnori. As a highlight of the
concert, Kyunghee Kim, the best successor of seungmu of Young Sook Han, will be dancing along with live music.
Also, the Former Presidential Chief of the Blue House and Professor of
Chung-Ang University, Bumhoon Park myong-in
will be emceeing giving commentary adding more to the richness of the whole
