 Allant Piano Trio Hyo Kyoung Beth Nam, piano Anna Jihyun Park, violin Alina Lim, cello Meet the Artists Mezzo-soprano Eunjoo Lee, has been praised in many roles including Carmen, Dalila in Samson et Dalila, Adalgisa in Norma, Suzuki in Madama Butterfly, Maddalena in Rigoletto, Santuzza in Cavalleria Rusticana, Amneris in Aida, La Zia Principessa in Suor Angelica with many appearances with various opera companies throughout the United States and in Korea, including the New York City Opera, Opera Roanoke Virginia, Des Moines Metro Opera, Opera at Florham, Duluth festival Opera, Seoul National Opera, Seoul City Opera, and Kimjakyung Opera Company. She made her debut in the role of Santuzza in Cavalleria Rusticana with the Catskill Philharmonic Orchestra in New York, Schenectady Symphony Orchestra, and Utica symphony Orchestra. Critics described her as “brilliant,” "impressive," with “a big warm voice and sympathetic presence, drawing the greatest applause from the audience.” Ms. Lee was a featured soloist at Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center and at New York’s Town Hall with the Little Orchestra Society of New York, under the baton of Maestro Dino Anagnost, singing in a Vivaldi Bel Canto Opera night. Ms. Lee performed Verdi Requiem in Korea with Daejeon Philharmonic Orchestra, and Prokofiev Cantata Op. 78 for with Daegu Symphony Orchestra. Ms. Lee recently performed Mozart Requiem with Bismarck Orchestra in North Dakota, Handel’s Messiah with Woolsan Symphony Orchestra in Korea, and La Zia Principessa in the Opera Suor Angelica at Carl Pfeifer Performing Arts Center in Wyckoff, New Jersey, sponsored in part by The Liederkranz Foundation, Inc. Upcoming engagements include a concert with D ENSEMBLE ‘Intricate Strata’ at Tenri Cultural Institute of New York and “An Evening of Song” Duo recital “Music and Words” series with Bimidji Symphony in Minnesota. Ms. Lee studied at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome and received Artist Diploma (Master’s Degree) at the Licinio Reficeo Conservatory in Italy. The Monitor, an Illinois periodical, praised Eunmi Moon in its review by saying, “Ms. Moon has a unique style of playing which is tasteful, doesn’t overcome the soloist, and yet manages to reach the musical heights. Her technique is spotless and her dynamics come through with lyricism.” The Philadelphia Inquirer noted, “Accompanying with sensitivity and skill throughout, notably in the hushed reverie of Richard Strauss, was pianist Eunmi Moon.” Under the auspices of Community Concert Series sponsored by Columbia Artist Management, Ms. Moon has performed in many major cities throughout the U.S. including New York, Cincinnati, Bartlesville, Hartford, Pittsburg, Detroit, Boston, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, Norfolk, Chicago, and abroad in Korea, Japan, Canada, Puerto Rico, Switzerland, Austria, France, Guatemala, Mexico, Norway and Argentina. She lends her collaborative talents to singers and instrumentalists in vocal and chamber programs at New York’s Alice Tully, Merkin, Carnegie/Weill Recital Halls, the 92nd Street Y, the Colden Center, Philadelphia Convention center as well as numerous music series in major museums and libraries. Ms. Moon frequently collaborates with the acclaimed soprano Theresa Santiago, a winner of the 1994 Naumburg Competition, recording a CD, which was released by Musical Heritage Society. A graduate of Seoul National University, Ms. Moon was the first Korean student to receive a Master of Music Degree in Accompanying at The Juilliard School, where she was the Associate Coach at the Juilliard Opera Center. She was also a vocal coach at the Manhattan School of Music. She made her Carnegie/Weill Recital Hall debut as a winner of 1995 Artist International Competition in the Piano/Cello Duo Category. She is currently a doctoral candidate in Teacher’s College at Columbia University where she has received her second Masters degree in Music Education. The Allant Piano Trio is quickly establishing itself as one of the most exciting young ensembles today. Winners of this year's prestigious Beverly Hills Auditions in Los Angeles, pianist Hyo Kyoung Beth Nam, violinist Anna Jihyun Park and cellist Alina Lim formed the trio at The Juilliard School in 2010, each with extensive and distinguished careers in chamber music. Most recently, the trio was selected to be awarded Jonathan Madrigano Entrepreneurship Grant at The Juilliard School. With this grant the trio will embark on a project of composing and publishing music for young chamber musicians. The trio receives coaching and direction from Juilliard professors Toby Appel, Rohan DeSilva, Nicholas Mann and Vivian Weilerstein. Last year, the trio was invited to participate in the highly selective Yehudi Menuhin Chamber Music Festival in San Francisco. In 2011, the trio was chosen for a three-week performance residency at The Banff Centre in Canada, and was named semifinalists at the Young Concert Artist audition in New York and the Trondheim International Chamber Music Competition in Norway. The trio performs throughout the New York City metro area, and recently, was featured as soloists at the South Orange Performing Arts Center in New Jersey. Inspired by the French musical term, allant, meaning "energetic" and "driving," the three young musicians are passionate about performing so that audiences of all ages and backgrounds can rediscover the power and beauty of chamber music, from Haydn and Ravel, to contemporary female composers. With this mission at heart, the trio regularly plays during lunch hour at the soup kitchen of Calvary-St. George's Episcopal Church, and has given performances at the Bailey House and the James Lenox House for seniors in New York City.
