We are one week away from the BIG DAY! PLEINATHON 2024, which will take place at Connetquot River State Park preserve, a beautiful 3,473-acre state park with lots of scenic views perfect for painting its scenery, on Saturday, May 18, from 8am-4pm.
What is plein air?
“En Plein Aire” is a french term that translates to “in the open air.” Plein air painting gives artists and nature lovers a chance to combine the two and paint in the fresh air in a relaxing setting.
Registration is $35 and gets you access to the park, a free Golden Artist Lecture, and an option to jump into the Intro To Plein Air Class if you’ve never painted a landscape or want to improve your skills. In addition to all of that, you’ll get to enter your finished piece in the PLEINATHON ART EXHIBIT at the Islip Arts Council Gallery, from June 4-28, 2024.
Islip Arts Council and the Flour Shoppe Cafe are excited to announce the Flora & Flour Art Exhibition.
Floral and botanical wors in all media will be displayed at the Flour Shoppe Cafe in Bay Shore, NY from May 12 - June 12. This month-long exhibition will include a reception at the cafe for artists to celebrate their work. Refreshments from the cafe will be served.

We are recognizing National Puppy Day with this new “ART FOR PAWS” Exhibition.
American Pet Professionals and the Islip Arts Council are joining together to host the first ever Art for Paws exhibit. This show will exhibit incredibly talented pet artist members of both organizations, and feature artwork of our beloved four-legged family members.

Opening Reception: Friday, May 17 / 6 - 8pm
In addition to the exhibit, the opening reception will celebrate adopted pets and shine a light on pets in our local animal shelters that are in need of homes.
